(NEW Method 3) Recovering from bootloop/soft-brick. (with Contributors) for Huawei Honor 3C 2G

Method 1 - Using au_temp.cfg
Download au_temp.cfg
Download Stock Rom

Take out your sdcard from your device, and with an sdcard card adapter, connect to your PC, please do the following on your computer.

(Optional) Format SD Card)

1. Extract Stock Rom to root of SDCard.
2. Rxtract and copy au_temp.cfg into dload folder.
3. Make sure you have au_temp.cfg and UPDATE.app in your 'dload' folder.
4. Disconnect adapter.
5. Make sure your phone is switched off (Just to be safe, take out battery)
6. Insert SDcard into device.
7. Turn on device.
8. Recovery will autostart update process.

Method 2 - flash official signed recovery

1. Download Set Up SP Flash Tool version v3.1324.0.177 (Secboot)
2. Download MTK vcom usb drivers
3. Download stock recovery signed (renamed stock recovery signed to recovery.img)
4.Flash thru SP Flash Tool version v3.1324.0.177 (Secboot)
5. Put in Stock ROM dload folder into SDCard
6. Boot into recovery ( Power + Vol Up & Down )
7. It will auto update.

1 Install the USB driver
Road King driver installation package:
Under Kit Contents: \ driver \ Handset WinDriver_win7_64_20140411.rar
Double click on the following DriverSetup.exe after decompression can drive to install itself in the background, there is no guide.


After a successful installation the following screen will be displayed. Click OK.

2 mirror programming
1) Do not connect your phone and computer, double-kit "minimum system recovery tools. Exe", vary on different computers landing time, if the time is longer, please be patient


2) After the main screen appears, select the phone model programming (such as H30-U10)


3) Click the "Start"

4) Re-install the battery cell phone and computer via a USB connection, which began burning, burning after the success of the following screenshot:

If there is no tool more than 1 minute after the phone even go any interface changes, please try to do the following
Accordance with the above 1) -> 2) -> 3) -> 4) steps to try several times
If that does not work, check the following preloader Click the Start button in step 3) in the port in Device Manager whether, if the driver does not appear that there is no need to reinstall the drivers installed.

3 SD card upgrade ready
1) Download the ROM you want to brush into the firmware package.
2) Prepare a microSD card, make sure that is formatted as FAT32.
3) created under the root directory of a microSD card [dload] folder.
4) The software upgrade package plus compression, the package "UPDATA.APP" copy to microSD card [dload] folder. Insert the microSD card into the phone.
5) Before you upgrade the software, check the battery power, make sure the battery is more than 20%

4 Forced Upgrade
1) Disconnect the phone with the computer or other device (such as chargers) is connected, the battery again.
2) Press and hold the volume up and down keys, and then press the power button.
3) After the boot screen out, release the power button and continue to hold the volume down key until you enter the following upgrade interface, then release the volume up and down keys. The upgrade process takes about three minutes. During the upgrade process, do not remove the battery, we recommend that you better not do anything, just wait

Note: Do not use the phone if they can properly try this tool, which applies only to the phone to save the brick operation.

MIUI ROM for Huawei Honor 3C

Please do not follow this guide if your device isn't what I stated above.


DISCLAIMER (PLEASE READ)
1. Doing this will VOID YOUR WARRANTY. 
2. I am not responsible if your device exploded, possessed or bricked as this is your decision.
3. This will not work on Malaysia-based firmware. It is confirmed working when initial firmware out of the box is Chinese/Taiwan. I do not know the specific reason why. Probably it has to do with the bootloader type. Tq 

What is MIUI?

For my short review,

"A little to add, For Malaysians, in order for your simcards to be detected, you must flash a Chinese firmware first. Reason is because this ported MIUI rom is not international. Restoring your NVRAM won't make any changes."

Preparation
1. You're on a Chinese firmware (Stable/Developer) and rooted . CLICK ME to learn how.
2. MIUI ROM : http://en.miui.com/download-211.html
3. MIUI Gapps (4.2.2) : http://en.miui.com/thread-11225-1-1.html *(any 4.2.2 JB gapps compatible eg. PA gapps)
4. CWM Recovery : MEGA

Procedure
Root and install custom recovery
1. Root your phone via Vroot. For instructions, LINK
2. Download CWM Recovery, MIUI rom and gapps and put in SDCARD.
3. Download MobileUncle MTK Tools from Playstore.
4. Make sure you are rooted, now in MobileUncle, select Recovery update
5. Select the recovery.img you downloaded from Step 2.
6. Now when asked to reboot, reboot.

Backup 
1. Backup your current ROM by selecting Backup And Restore > Backup .
2. After successful, wipe data/factory reset the phone.

Installing ROM and Gapps
3. select 'install zip from sdcard' > 'choose zip from sdcard' > select MIUI ROM
4. Repeat step 3, but select Gapps.
5. After successful, reboot.

Restoring original recovery
6. Download original recovery LINK.
7. Repeat step 4-5 with original recovery.

You will be greeted with a MIUI boot animation and boot sound (:

ROOT and UNROOT (Huawei Honor 3C 2G)

Preparations:
1.Vroot : http://www.mgyun.com/vroot (for Root) (latest is v1.7.7)*28/5/2014
2. Hisuite : http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/ (for Driver)

Method 1 - vRoot
1. Install Hisuite and Vroot.
2. Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable.
3. Open Vroot. (It's in chinese)
4. Your phone will be auto-detected. Whatever you do, just press the button that has 'ROOT' on it.




5. Check your phone and make sure you allow any installation. When it finishes, it will look like this.


6. Now you are ROOTED

Method 2 - CWM & SuperSU 
1. Download CWM Recovery and SuperSU
2. In MobileUncle MTK Tools , select Recovery Update and select the recovery.img.
3. Now when asked to reboot, reboot.
4. In CWM Recovery, flash supersu.zip.
5. Reboot. 


Switching from vRoot superuser app to SuperSU

Preparations:
1. SuperSU (Playstore)

Procedure:
1. Download SuperSU
2. When asked on updating binary, Continue.
3. Installation process, select Normal.
4. Prompt on clashing superuser app, asked to uninstall other superuser app, which is referring to vroot superuser app, press Yes/Continue (forgot..)
5. Installation Success.


How to Unroot
Method 1 - SuperSU
6. Go to Settings tab
7. Scroll down until you see Full Unroot.
8. Click it and it will unroot and delete all necessary superuser data and the SuperSU app.

Method 2 - Reflash Stock firmware via Local Up

Switching to Developer Edition EMUI 2.0 (Huawei Honor 3C 2G)

DISCLAIMER (PLEASE READ)
1. For this process to work, you will have to temporarily root your device, which causes loss of warranty. Do not attempt to flash this firmware if you are worried about voiding your warranty under Huawei Malaysia. CAUSE IT WILL VOID! 
2. I am not responsible if your device exploded, possessed or bricked as this is your decision.

Flashing this from a Malaysian ROM may cause conflict to the bootloader which could bring to bootloop or even BOD (Brick of Death) . If it happens, please refer here to revive. (Credits to Faril Izaldi) 


Red is Developer , Blue is Stable


Developer Edition Firmware

The Pros: 
1. Early update push.
2. New features.
3. Huawei ID and Huawei Backup sync.
4. Bugs are ironed out every update. 
The Cons:

1. Bugs
2. No Google Services (Playstore, Google Search, etc)
3. Chinese bloatware. 

How to tell if I am on Developer firmware?

Last 4 lines of your firmware version. (B6**)


Preparations:
3. Vroot : http://www.mgyun.com/vroot (for Root) (latest is v1.7.7)*28/5/2014
4. Hisuite : http://consumer.huawei.com/minisite/HiSuite_en/ (for Driver)
5. Google services APK : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23308990704255022

Procedure:
Download firmware
1. Download latest developer firmware. Before downloading, I suggest you read the changelog first.
(Skip to Step 10 if you're already rooted)

Install drivers and rooting your phone
2. On your phone, go to Settings > About phone > on the Build Number tap 7 times to activate Developer Mode
3. Once activated, go back to Settings > Developer Mode > Enable USB Debugging > Accept .
4. Install Hisuite and Vroot.
5. Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable.
6. Open Vroot. (It's in chinese)
7. Your phone will be auto-detected. Whatever you do, just press the button that has 'ROOT' on it.




8. Check your phone and make sure you allow any installation. When it finishes, it will look like this.


9. Now you are ROOTED

Backup phone (scatter) and NVRAM (IMEI)
10. Open MTK Droid Tools (MTKDroidTools.exe from the extracted folder)
11. Press the ROOT button to get Root Shell. When asked "......established SU" , just click OK.
12. Once done, go to the "root, backup, recovery" tab > select "Backup" 
13. MTK will backup your phone into scatter files (can be used with SP Flashtool for restoring)
14. Once it's done, it will say 'Task Complete' in the window. 
15. Now go back to 'Phone Information' tab, click IMEI/NVRAM > Backup NVRAM. (IMPORTANT)
16. Once done, now you are ready to flash your Original firmware. 

Update
17. Extract the zipped file you downloaded in Step 1.
18. Copy the 'dload' file to your phone's SDCard (Make sure you Turn On USB Storage from your phone.)

After the update has finished, do not factory reset your phone just yet.

If your mobile signal is detected, you may continue factory reseting. 

If your mobile signal is not detected, please proceed to next step.

Restoring NVRAM
19. Repeat step 10-11
20. Press IMEI/NVRAM > Under NVRAM , press Restore.

Add caption

21. Select the backup you saved from step 15. (it will ask twice)
22. Once done, your phone will detect your simcard(s).

Factory Reset
23. Factory reset your phone. 

Once you are done, please check your firmware version.


If yours is the same as the above,

CONGRATULATIONS, 
YOU ARE NOW RUNNING A DEV FIRMWARE!!!

FAQs:
Q: Why can't I see ROOT button in MTK Droid Tools/My phone info does not come out in MTK Droid Tools?
A: Install Hisuite. This is to ensure your PC/Laptop can detect your phone. 

Q: I already restored my NVRAM, still no detection?
A: It is highly recommended that you read my steps carefully. This commonly happen when you have already factory reset the device, thus all NVRAM data from previous firmware to be erased. 

Q: Why factory reset at the end? Can't I just go with the firmware?
A: You can, but I don't recommend because you will get constant force close on System Updates.Plus bugs will be tripled. 

Q: Will I still be rooted after flashing the ROM? 
A: Yes, if you want to unroot, just Factory reset. If you want root, please repeat Step 5-9 . 

Q: Bootloop
A:  If at all your Huawei Honor 3C smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.

How to use 2 whatsapps for 2 simcards on your Huawei Honor 3C. (or other dual simcard phones)



I know you all are wondering (or you're not) that having a dual simcard smartphone has it's pros and cons. One of the cons is you can't have 2 whatsapp in your phone.



 Well thanks to XDA Senior Member OsamaGhareeb , he has made a modded Whatsapp that can run alongside the original Whatsapp.

Guide:
1. Go to File Manager > SD Card > Rename the 'WhatsApp' folder to 'OGWhatsApp' .
2. Go to Whatsapp's App info > Clear Data
3. Install OGWhatsApp
4. Enter the number you used with the official WhatsApp, to OGWhatsApp.
5. Enter your secondary number to the official WhatsApp.

Congratulations now you have 2 whatsapps under 1 smartphone roof!!

Stock Taiwan EMUI firmware. (Huawei Honor 3C)

Dedicated for Malaysia,
There are 2 types of Huawei Honor 3C sets out there which are those you bought with suppliers (AP) and those you bought directly from vmall (Original) . Either way, both sets provide you with the same phone, but may differ in accessories and warranty services.

AP set H3C modded firmware. A sight for sore eyes. 


In addition, H3C that is from the Original set comes with a Taiwanese firmware that claims to be compatible with Malaysia. AP set however, comes with a modded Chinese firmware and may vary from different suppliers. 

"But please take note that this is not the Malaysian firmware, but its identical. You may not get OTA update on the same day Malaysian version get." 

PLEASE USE GOOGLE CHROME AS YOU WILL NEED THE TRANSLATOR.





FOR MOBILE USERS, PLEASE SET TO DESKTOP MODE. OTHERWISE THE LINKS WILL NOT WORK.

Preparations:

Procedure:
Download Firmware
1. Download the original firmware from the given link above. Go to Softwares > Choose the latest firmware via B*** (eg. B108) then right click on the download button (red square with an arrow inside) and select 'Save Link' or 'Open in New Tab' and it will start downloading.



2. On your phone, go to Settings > About phone > on the Build Number tap 7 times to activate Developer Mode
3. Once activated, go back to Settings > Developer Mode > Enable USB Debugging > Accept .

4. Install Hisuite and Vroot.
5. Connect your phone to your PC via USB Cable.

Updating your firmware

19. Once copied, disconnect your phone from your PC. 
20. Go to Settings > Updates > System Updates > Local Update > Backup (Optional) > Confirm > Upgrade.
21. Sit back, and wait for the upgrade to finish.


NO SIGNAL? IMEI became null? USELESS?




1. Root your phone ( Step 5 - 9 )
2. Open MTK Droid Tools > IMEI/NVRAM > Restore NVRAM > Select backup > Select backup again > Successful
3. You should see your phone will popup a message about your mobile network(s). 

Now check your Build Version, if it shows as below:



Congratulations, you sir, are OFFICIAL.



 If at all your Huawei Honor 3C smartphone gets in the boot loop mode, then you need to turn off the device and then reapply the update from the start. To turn off you can reinsert the battery or say you can long press the power button and repeat the whole process again.
